The Beginning

I Did Not Choose Horses

I did not grow up around horses. There was no family stable, no childhood riding lessons, no inherited connection to the equine world. My path to this work began with a camera and a restlessness that I could not explain, a sense that the subjects I was photographing were not the ones I was meant to find.

The first time I photographed a horse, everything changed. It was not the beauty of the animal, though that was undeniable. It was the challenge. Horses do not perform for the camera. They do not hold a pose or repeat a gesture on request. They exist entirely in their own rhythm, and to capture something honest about them, I had to abandon mine.

That surrender became the foundation of everything I do now. The patience required to photograph horses taught me a way of seeing that transformed not just my images, but my entire relationship with the creative process.

"I spent years photographing everything I thought I should. The moment I turned my camera toward horses, I understood what it meant to photograph something I needed to."

Learning to Wait

My approach to photography was shaped by thousands of hours in the field with animals that owe me nothing. Horses taught me that the best images are never taken by force. They arrive when you are still enough, patient enough, and honest enough to receive them.

Over the years, that practice took me from local pastures to some of the most extraordinary equine landscapes on Earth. I began scouting locations not for their popularity, but for their capacity to reveal something unseen. I sought out breeds that carried cultural weight, landscapes where the relationship between horse and terrain told stories that words could not.

My work has been exhibited at Art Basel and the Saatchi Gallery, featured in Equidae Magazine, and collected by private collectors who share the belief that equine fine art photography is one of the most powerful and underexplored genres in contemporary visual art.

The Mission

Why I Created This

For years, photographers would reach out asking if they could join me in the field. Not for a workshop, not for a lecture, but simply to be alongside someone who had spent a lifetime with these animals and could open that world for them. I understood the request because it was the same thing I had once wanted: not instruction, but the chance to live inside someone else's extraordinary reality and be transformed by it.

What I have created was born from that understanding. I wanted to build the experience I always wished had existed. Something that went deeper than technique. Something that placed you inside my world beside these incredible horses, allowing a transformative moment that stays with you for the rest of your life. There is simply nothing like it anywhere else.

I did not want to stand at the front of a group and point at things. I wanted to walk beside other artists, share what a lifetime of living alongside these animals has taught me, and be genuinely surprised by what they teach me in return. Every experience is a collaboration. Every group changes the way I see. That exchange is what keeps this work alive for me, and it is what makes each journey unrepeatable.

"I do not lead these experiences because I have all the answers. I lead them because the field is where I find the next question, and I believe the best questions are found in the company of other artists who are willing to be transformed."

What I Believe

Patience Over Speed

The most powerful photographs come from waiting, not chasing. I believe in giving the moment time to arrive rather than manufacturing it. This applies to every aspect of my work, from scouting to shooting to editing.

Intimacy Over Scale

Small groups produce better art. When there are fewer people in the field, there is more silence, more space, and more room for genuine creative discovery. I will never sacrifice intimacy for revenue.

Honesty Over Spectacle

I am not interested in manufactured moments or staged encounters. My work, and the experiences I lead, are rooted in authentic connection with the animal and the landscape. What is real is always more powerful than what is arranged.

A Personal Note

What You Can Expect From Me

I will be direct with you. I will tell you when an image works and when it does not. I will push you past the compositions you are comfortable with and into the territory where your best work lives. I will share everything I know about light, about animals, about the craft of seeing, without reservation.

I will also listen. Your artistic voice matters more than mine during this experience. My role is not to produce ten photographers who shoot like me. It is to help you discover what you, and only you, can see when given total access to a world most people will never enter.

If you are looking for a relaxed photography holiday with some nice pictures at the end, this is probably not for you. But if you are ready to live something extraordinary, to be challenged, and to leave with images and memories that surprise even yourself, then I would be honoured to share this world with you.
